Thai Massage

Thai Massage

Thai Massage as it is practiced today is a blend of Indian, Chinese and Thai traditions going back over 2,000 years. This centuries-old technique is performed on a thick mat on the floor while the client wears comfortable, loose clothing. No oils or lotions are used and the focus is on stretching and range of motion. The therapist uses hands, forearms, elbows, knees and feet to apply pressure and stimulate the sen lines, which are similar to Chinese meridians or Ayurvedic nadis. The therapist will also move the client into poses similar to that of yoga to facilitate deep stretching and increase flexibility, leaving the client feeling relaxed, yet alert and agile.

This technique is especially helpful for people who sit for long periods each day; anyone with low back, hip or leg related tension; chronic fatigue and pain conditions; and athletes. This technique is not recommended for pregnant women or those with hyper-mobile joints. To prepare for your appointment please wear or bring loose, comfortable clothes; please, no jeans, shorts or skirts.
